Sunday services at St John’s

Highlights of Lockdown Pentecost service – Kayak trip around Weymouth Bay

Coronavirus, the Lockdown of Spring 2020 and on -going restrictions have caused significant changes to our weekly service pattern. We also anticipate things continuing to change and develop as the weeks go by.

Current Sunday services (as of Sun 11th October 2020)

9am. Morning Worship. Every week at St John’s Church.

This is a 45 minute service with Anglican liturgy, Bible teaching and traditional music through which we worship, learn and grow together. Music will be played but restrictions mean that we are unable to sing. Face coverings must also be worn. The 1st Sunday of each month will be a Service of Holy Communion.

10.30 am. Contemporary Online Service.

This weekly service on Youtube features contemporary worship, Bible teaching, interviews, testimonies and contributions from a range of people from St John’s. Locations range from the church building, living rooms, gardens, the beach, coast path and even the high seas!

The services start at 10.30am and can found on the St John’s Youtube channel:

11.15am. Zoom with a Brew.

We gather on Zoom with a cuppa after the morning services. These are great times to chat and pray together. If you would like to have the details of how to join these Zoom meeting then please get in touch using the Contact Form on the website.

Future Services

We look forward to re-introducing and developing more services as restrictions lift. These will include contemporary and family friendly services in church with our usual groups of children and young people.

We plan to introduce a new and innovative Youth Service and look forward to making announcements about this soon.

A new midweek Communion service is also likely to be introduced in Jan 2021.

Ecumenical Services

We usually gather with Churches from across Weymouth and Portland on the last Sunday of each month. These are times of worship, fellowship and mutual encouragement as we seek to serve God in unity in the area. These services are also likely to be reinstated as restrictions are lifted.
