What we believe

On this page below you will find some important statements about what we believe as a church, and about the mission we are on.  Rev Tom Coopey recorded the video below on a Kayak during Lockdown, reflecting on what the church is called to be, as a community following Jesus, seeking to share His light and love with the world. Just like the cruise ships stranded in Weymouth Bay during Lockdown, the church has in some ways been constrained, but our mission is clear and unchanged.

We believe in God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit

God created, loves and is at work in our world. God’s love for us is supremely shown in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus.

Jesus’ life shows us how to live our lives; joyfully, prayerfully, generously and adventurously.

Jesus’ death on the cross has bought restoration, salvation, forgiveness and grace to a broken and fallen world.

Jesus’ resurrection defeated sin and death, brings unshakable hope and opens the way to eternal life.

We are called to worship, know and follow Jesus. He gives us life in all it’s fulness.

We believe that the Bible is the inspired and authoritative word of God.

We believe that the Holy Spirit is at work in us and in our world today. The Spirit brings life and we are open and responsive to the work, ministry and gifts of the Holy Spirit.

We believe that each person is made in God’s image, loved by God and called by God. All people are unique, precious and loved and worthy of dignity and respect.

We believe that our planet is a beautiful and incredible gift from God which we are called to protect and care for.

We believe we are called; to love God, to love one another and to love and care for our world.
